Risk Capital Partners sells its stake in APT Controls to Swarco AG

Risk Capital Partners (“RCP”) is pleased to announce that it has sold its substantial minority holding in APT Controls Ltd (“APT”) to the Austrian traffic technology group Swarco AG (“Swarco”). Swarco acquired 100% of APT for cash in an undisclosed transaction.

APT Controls is the UK’s leading provider of parking and traffic management systems, providing a wide range of car and people access controls, electronic payment systems and road infrastructure products.

RCP invested in APT Controls in 2007 and helped the Management Team led by Dermot Murphy in acquiring two businesses during our ownership. Sales and profits more than doubled during this period leading to a return on RCP’s investment of over 2x.

Dermot Murphy, Managing Director of APT Controls, commented: “In 2007 Risk Capital Partners invested in our business, giving us the confidence to make acquisitions and develop / market new products. We are grateful for their guidance on the journey, which has resulted in the sale to Swarco. ”

Ben Redmond, Co-Founder of RCP who was on the Board of APT Controls along with Luke Johnson commented “We are delighted to see APT Controls become part of the Swarco organisation. Swarco have great ambitions for the business in terms of product development and market presence in the UK and we wish Dermot and his wider team well for the future”.
