A passion for working with entrepreneurs
Risk Capital Partners was founded in 2001 by Luke Johnson and Partners. It remains an independent firm to this day.
Our focus is working with entrepreneurs with ambition and helping them to achieve transformational growth through acquisitions, roll-out programmes and bold organic growth strategies.
We look to invest £2 to £15 million of equity in established, profitable companies based in the UK. Our flexible and open-minded approach to investing means that we will consider most industry sectors, though we have been most successful in the consumer, leisure and retail sub sectors.
We are not governed by rules and do not have to report to external committees – if we like your story, we will invest.
We invest solely our own money in each transaction – so we have a real alignment of interest with our management partners / founder shareholders. We take minority or majority stakes depending on the situation and are equally comfortable with either structure.
We look to challenge the status quo with our own experience of investing across more than 30 companies, support management through their growing pains, and contribute to the strategic success of each business.
Our communication style is down to earth, straight talking, tell it how it is.

Risk Capital Partners Invests in The Light 9th October, 2024 - The Light, an innovative operator in the UK’s cinema and leisure space has announced that it has been acquired by renowned hospitality entrepreneur Luke Johnson and Risk Capital Partners along with a co-investment from Melcorpo, cinema and leisure investors.
Risk Capital Partners sells Genuine Dining to trade buyer WSH 24th September, 2024 - WSH Group, the parent company of BaxterStorey and Benugo, has acquired catering company Genuine Dining. Chairman and majority shareholder, Luke Johnson, working through Risk Capital Partners, is realising his investment and exiting the business, following 14 years of active involvement.
Risk Capital Partners invests in Simpson Travel 28th May, 2024 - March 2024 Risk Capital Partners has taken a majority stake in specialist tour operator Simpson Travel. The operator offers luxury villas, boutique hotels and apartments across the Mediterranean, with a particular focus on Greece, Turkey, Mallorca, Corsica, France and Italy.
